Read articles from Telegram, Chrome, and Firefox

Send an article to the Telegram bot or open it with the Chrome or Firefox extension. Follow the import steps, check limitations, and keep your place.

You can add an article to Fastreader by sending its link or text to the Telegram bot, or by using a browser extension on your computer. The bot processes the material on our server and keeps it in your private inbox. The extension extracts the article on your device and opens it in the browser reader. Choose according to where you want to read and store the material.

Open an inbox material to read inside Telegram. The ordinary browser keeps a separate library.

Send an article to the Telegram bot

  1. Open @read_agent in Telegram and press “Start”.
  2. Send one complete link to a public article or Telegram post. Alternatively, paste the text into a message or forward a text post.
  3. Wait for the reply with “Read” and “Inbox” buttons. Press “Read” to open the material inside Telegram.
  4. Check the title and the beginning and end of the text. Choose a reading mode and start it separately.

Suppose a colleague sends you a review of a new work tool. Send the article’s address to the bot, open the extracted text, and find its limitations. If the review includes a comparison table, consult the original page: a text copy does not preserve cell layout or illustrations.

The bot preserves paragraphs rather than the page’s original formatting. Each material can contain up to 256 KiB of UTF-8 text. TXT, PDF, EPUB, and FB2 attachments are not imported this way. To read a TXT file, use file upload in the browser reader.

Open articles with the Chrome or Firefox extension

On a computer, visit the extensions section on the homepage and follow the link to your browser’s official store. Chrome and Firefox listings are available. Install the appropriate extension and try a short public article first: tab permissions and compatibility depend on your browser.

  1. Open an individual article on a regular website.
  2. Click the extension icon, “Read in Fastreader”. It extracts the text and opens a reader tab.
  3. For a shorter passage, select it on the page and choose “Read selection in Fastreader” from the context menu.
  4. After the article has been added successfully, check its heading, paragraphs, and saved entry in your library.

The extension transfers the original text to the reader tab on your device; this import does not send the text to our server or translate it. If saving fails, keep the source page open. Address the error and try again, or copy the passage manually.

What to do when an article link fails

The bot does not automatically gain access to private posts, sign-in pages, or articles that depend on complex page loading. You can forward a private post when its author allows forwarding. If text you can access is not extracted, copy the relevant passage and send it as a regular message.

The extension may also fail on a website’s homepage, a complicated layout, or a browser’s internal tab. Open the individual publication, select the relevant text, or paste it into the reader manually. For text above 2 MiB, choose a smaller meaningful passage.

Where articles and reading positions are saved

The bot’s inbox is stored on our server, while the opened library, settings, and reading position stay on your device. The browser library and the library inside Telegram are separate. Adding an article on a computer does not automatically transfer it to your phone. Use a library backup for a manual transfer.

Pause after reading and check your saved position. Deleting an inbox item does not remove a local copy already saved in the reader. Before sending personal documents, consider where your chosen method processes them. The data and privacy page explains storage and deletion.

Try this technique with your own text.
