Guides to word-by-word reading
Learn how to choose your pace, use pauses and save your place. The examples use features available in Fastreader.
Where to begin
Start with a short text relevant to your task. Paste it into the reader or open a UTF-8 TXT file up to 2 MB. Read a paragraph in the full-text view first, then try word-by-word display.
Pause if you cannot keep up with the meaning: the current paragraph appears when paused. You can return to the full text at any time. Words per minute sets the display pace. Check your understanding separately, for example by explaining what you have read.
Texts are saved in this browser on this device. A text opens paused after a reload. Keep a separate copy of the original: clearing browser data deletes the library.
The first detailed guide is scheduled for 3 November 2026. In the meantime, try a short text and see which mode suits your task.
