TEXTS FROM YOUR CONVERSATION

Read ChatGPT texts in Fastreader

Keep the full original, prepare a separate short version and choose what to read.

Created by Semen Lobachevskiy, the owner of the Fastreader personal project. Connect Fastreader once in your ChatGPT account, then ask it to prepare text in a conversation and open the returned reader link. Custom connections depend on your account and workspace policies.

The plugin sends the prepared texts to Fastreader and returns a link to a preview. Compare both versions, their word counts and reading-time estimates, then choose which version to save. The original is selected by default. The plugin and this workflow are free, with no payments or purchases.

Connect Fastreader

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web and sign in.
  2. Go to Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter these settings:
    • Name: Fastreader
    • Server URL: https://fastreader.ru/mcp
    • Authentication: No authentication
  4. Read the ChatGPT risk warning. If you agree, select I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
  5. Open the Fastreader plugin you created and select + to install it.
  6. On the ChatGPT home page, switch to Work and start a new conversation. Type @ in the message box and choose Fastreader. Paste the prompt below, followed by your text in the same message.

These steps follow the official OpenAI guide. If an option is missing, see connection help.

A ready-to-use prompt

This prompt tells ChatGPT how to prepare both versions and send them to the reader. Copy the whole prompt and paste your text after it.

Prepare the text at the end of this message for Fastreader. Keep the complete original unchanged, including its paragraphs. Separately write a short summary using only that original, with no new facts. Preserve important numbers, negations, conditions and qualifications. Do not replace the original with the summary.

Send both versions to Fastreader. Return the real link, word count and estimated reading time for each version from Fastreader’s response. Do not invent a link, figures or source URL. Omit the source URL if I have not provided one. If no result is returned, say so.

If I specify a reading-time budget, adapt the summary to it; otherwise do not ask for a budget. Choose the English reader interface. Do not start playback or claim that the text has already been saved.

Use text you are entitled to provide. Connecting Fastreader does not grant access to private articles: paste the text you can use, and include a genuine source URL only when you have one. You can optionally state a reading-time budget alongside your request.

Choose and save a version

  1. With Fastreader selected in the conversation, send the prompt above and your text. ChatGPT prepares the full original and a separate short version.
  2. Open the returned preview link within 30 minutes of its creation. Registration is not required. Anyone with the link can open the prepared texts until it expires.
  3. Review the original, switch to the short version if you wish, and compare the word counts and estimates. Estimates returned in ChatGPT use 250 words per minute; the reader uses your selected pace.
  4. Choose the version you want and press Open text to save it in this browser’s library. Reading stays paused until you start it. A saved copy remains after the transfer link expires.

Each version can contain up to 2 MiB of UTF-8 text. Creating a package sends both versions to the Fastreader server; opening its preview does not save either one automatically. Estimates describe display time, not understanding. You can still add text or open a TXT file manually in the reader.

If a connection option is missing

Use ChatGPT in a web browser and check which account and workspace are selected. Account or administrator policies may limit custom connections. Check the official OpenAI connection guide and ask your workspace administrator about access when needed.

If Fastreader is installed but unavailable in a conversation, check that you are in Work, start a new conversation and select it with @. While a connection is unavailable, you can paste text into the reader manually.

Support

Plugin privacy information

Text you provide in ChatGPT is processed in the ChatGPT environment you choose. That environment’s settings and applicable rules govern its processing of conversations. ChatGPT prepares the short version before calling Fastreader; the transfer service does not call an AI provider to generate it or fetch the source page.

When the plugin creates a preview package, it sends the title, full original, short version, interface language, and any supplied source URL or reading-time budget to the Fastreader server. Both text versions are temporarily stored so the preview can deliver them. Each package expires 30 minutes after creation; opening it does not extend this period. Expired links stop working and expired package contents are removed during server cleanup.

The preview link contains a random access token. The server stores a hash of this token. Anyone holding the link can open both texts until expiry, without an account. Choose what you submit and share the link only with people you intend to give that access. Package expiry does not delete the ChatGPT conversation, technical request logs, or copies already saved on a device.

Creation is limited to 30 packages per hour per network address, with a shared temporary storage budget of 64 MiB. Technical information is used to apply these limits. A request can be rejected when a limit is reached.

The plugin has no access to your existing Fastreader library. Opening a preview does not add its contents to that library. After you choose a version and press the save button, the reader stores that text, its title and reading position in this browser on this device. An explicitly saved copy remains after the transfer link expires. The website’s Data and analytics page explains local storage, drafts, backups and deletion.

The reader’s AI features are separate from preparing and saving the two versions. They send selected text for processing when you explicitly request those features; AI narration also requires separate consent. Their processing and limits are described on the website’s data page.

Opening the website sends requests for its pages and supporting files. The web server keeps technical request logs that may include the requested address, IP address, time, referrer and browser information, as described in Data and analytics. This page contains no scripts. Optional analytics on other website pages is controlled by the choice described in that policy.

Plugin terms of use

These terms cover the Fastreader plugin’s text-preparation skill, temporary preview packages and saving a chosen version in the reader. The plugin is provided by Semen Lobachevskiy. Its current features are free, with no payments or purchases.

Use your own texts or materials you are entitled to submit for the action you choose. A public link does not remove copyright protection or the source’s rules. Rights in original materials remain with their respective rights holders. Preparing or importing a text does not give other users permission to distribute it.

The complete original and a separate short version are prepared in your ChatGPT conversation. Short versions and other AI-generated changes may contain errors or omissions; check them against the original, especially numbers, negative statements and qualifications. Source access depends on the tools available in your ChatGPT environment. Estimates returned in ChatGPT use 250 words per minute; the reader uses your selected pace. Estimates do not measure comprehension.

A preview package is temporary and anyone with its link can read it until its fixed 30-minute expiry. It is not a backup. Save the version you want by pressing the save button before expiry, or keep the original separately. Limits apply to text size, creation frequency and shared temporary storage.

Your browser stores the chosen text in the library on your device. Keep your originals and use the reader’s backup feature when needed. The plugin does not start playback, retrieve your library, or automatically sync texts and reading positions between ChatGPT, devices or browsers.
